Convergence

I couldn't find an explanation of convergent tecnology other places than http://www.wikipedia.org/, by searching technological convergence. I know that wikipedia is not the best place to search for academic information, but I couldn't find it elswhere. Here is the link to the site:

I have written the explanation of convergence in my own words:

Technological convergence is when different technological systems, such as voice, video, picture and digital information, are integrated in the same thing and they can intercat with each other at the same time.


This is 4 examples of convergent technology:

1. A digital mp3-player:

An digital mp3-player can play both music and video, and is therefore a good example of convergent technology.

An iPod is a good example of a digital mp3-player.

2. Digital radio

A digital radio can play music and programs from different radio stations. With a digital radio, you get clearer sound and improved reception, extra feautures such as pause and rewind radio and extra channels and tuning by station name, which make it a good example of convergent technology.

3. Tablet pc

With a tablet pc, you can write and draw pictures on the tablet with a special pen that suits for the computer, and it will appear on the screen. at the same time it has all the functions that a computer has these days with access to the internet, voice, picture and video.

4. Smart phone

A smart phone has integrated phone, music, camera, picture, and access to the internet.

An iPhone from apple is a good example of a smart phone.

This is a youtube video of convergence technology.

I tried to upload another video from the mac computers at the computer lab at uni, but it didn't work and i because it was somthing wrong with the computer, and had to go to my next class, so i didn't had time to try again, and it doesn't work from my computer at home, sorry. But i have shown that i know how to upload a video from youtube. This is the link to the video i tried to upload, it might have worked, but i can't tell from my computer:

I also tried to make my own video from the isight camera of the mac at the computer lab, but that didn't work either. My tute Kaja knows that i have tried, at least.
